New Audi A6 Driving Dynamics Revealed in Video

British automotive magazine "AUTOCAR" has released a brief, 90-second video on YouTube featuring an impression of the new Audi A6 TDI model.

Evolved Handling

The Audi A6, Audi's upper-mid-range model, has undergone a full model change and its European sales have begun. This model, soon to arrive in Japan, features the new generation Audi design with the familiar single-frame grille and LED lights, presenting a wide, low, and sporty form. Furthermore, weight reduction has been achieved through the extensive use of aluminum for the bonnet, front fenders, doors, and trunk lid. The new A6 is offered with two gasoline and three diesel engines. The model featured in the video is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel paired with a six-speed manual transmission, which is unlikely to be introduced in Japan.

"AUTOCAR" particularly praises the A6's handling, describing it as superb for a front-wheel-drive vehicle and far surpassing its predecessor in refinement. While the engine is considered slightly inferior to the BMW 520D among 2-liter diesels, it still receives high marks. Despite a lower overall height than the previous model, the interior is surprisingly spacious. The only noted drawback is the pedal offset in the right-hand drive configuration, which is unlikely to be a significant concern for the Japanese market model, presumably offered only with an automatic transmission.

In conclusion, the magazine states that the new A6 represents a significant evolution, closing the gap considerably with rivals like Mercedes and BMW. It was awarded a rating of four stars. Given its excellent fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions, it is hoped that the diesel model will indeed be introduced to Japan.
