Two-wheel-drive models are now front-wheel drive
The smallest X series model, the "X1" has undergone a full model change, evolving into its second generation. The new X1 measures 4,439mm in length, 1,821mm in width, and 1,598mm in height. Its height has increased by 53mm compared to the previous generation, creating more interior space.
Specifically, rear seat legroom has increased by 37mm, and with the optional fore-aft adjustment, it can expand up to 66mm. The luggage compartment also offers 505 liters, an increase of 85 liters over the previous model. Folding down the rear seats provides up to 1,550 liters of space.
The engines are BMW's latest offerings. At launch, all will feature 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engines, with two gasoline and three diesel options, along with various drivetrain configurations. All are paired with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The top-tier gasoline engine, found in the "xDrive25i," delivers a maximum output of 170kW (231ps) and a peak torque of 350Nm. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 6.5 seconds, with fuel consumption rated at 6.6-6.4ℓ/100km (approximately 15.2-15.6km/ℓ). The "xDrive20i" produces a maximum output of 141kW (192ps) and 280Nm of torque, with fuel consumption at 6.4-6.3ℓ/100km (15.6-15.9km/ℓ). A front-wheel-drive version, the "sDrive20i," using the same engine, will also be available.
The diesel engine lineup includes the "xDrive25d" with a maximum output of 170kW (231ps) and 450Nm of torque, the "xDrive20d" with 140kW (190ps) and 400Nm, and the entry-level front-wheel-drive "sDrive18i" producing 110kW (150ps) and 330Nm.
Both the entry-level gasoline and diesel models are front-wheel drive, a significant change from the previous rear-wheel-drive setup.
Additionally, three-cylinder models, the "sDrive18i" and "sDrive16d," which were recently introduced in the updated "3 Series", are scheduled to be added in November.
