Details and Movie of the 2-Seater MINI Revealed


Details of the MINI Coupe, MINI's two-seater model, whose driving scenes were previously released in a teaser, have now been unveiled.

Four Models in the Lineup


The MINI Coupe featuresas previously reporteda lineup of four models: the MINI Cooper Coupe (max output 90kW (122hp)/6,000rpm, max torque 160Nm/4,250rpm), the MINI Cooper S Coupe (max output 135kW (184hp)/5,500rpm, max torque 240Nm/1,600-5,000rpm), the MINI John Cooper Works Coupe (max output 155kW (211hp)/6,000rpm, max torque 260Nm/1,850-5,600rpm), all equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, and the MINI Cooper SD Coupe (max output 105kW (143ps)/4,000rpm, max torque 305Nm/1,750-2,700rpm) powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine.

Special Equipment for John Cooper Works






The top-tier John Cooper Works Coupe is equipped with an automatically deploying roof spoiler for enhanced aerodynamics. This spoiler can be raised or lowered automatically at speeds up to 80 km/h. The chassis is fitted with special 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, while a 6-speed automatic is available as an option for all models except the John Cooper Works.

The interior, revealed for the first time, features a compact cabin that, while adhering to MINI's traditional design, emphasizes its two-seater configuration. Although the MINI Coupe is 52mm lower in overall height compared to the MINI Hatch, it ensures ample headroom thanks to its distinctive "helmet roof" design. Slim sports seats are standard.

At present, only the sales prices in the US market have been announced: the base model is $22,000 (approximately ¥1.8 million), the Cooper S is $25,300 (approximately ¥2.05 million), and the John Cooper Works is $31,900 (approximately ¥2.6 million).

Teaser Movie for Commercial Release


Additionally, a movie teaser intended for use as a commercial starting in September 2011 has been released on YouTube. Under the slogan "Another Day. Another Adventure," this movie was filmed in Iceland, Rio de Janeiro, and Hong Kong. By showcasing driving scenes in these three locations with vastly different climates and terrains, it appears to highlight the MINI Coupe's appeal of enabling driving enjoyment regardless of location.
