General Motors Japan has announced the new SUV "Chevrolet Captiva" and will begin selling it at its authorized dealer network nationwide starting July 30.

Japanese Specification: Right-Hand Drive, 7-Seater
The Captiva is a new-generation model created with a global strategy in mind, through the joint development efforts of GM's bases worldwide, including North America, Europe, and Korea. The model being introduced to Japan features a right-hand drive and 7-seater configuration, tailored to the characteristics of the Japanese market.
The engine is a newly developed 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder DOHC unit with variable valve timing. It produces a maximum output of 123kW (167ps) at 5,600rpm and a maximum torque of 230Nm (23.5kgm) at 4,600rpm. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic with DSC (Driver Shift Control), equipped with an eco-drive mode to balance performance and fuel efficiency.
Furthermore, anticipating a variety of driving scenarios from daily use to serious off-road excursions, it is equipped with the latest Active On-Demand 4WD system. This system, utilizing an electronically controlled hydraulic clutch, optimally controls the distribution of driving force from a nearly 100:0 front-to-rear split during normal driving to a 50:50 split, depending on driving conditions.
In terms of safety, it comes standard with comprehensive safety devices, including 3-point seatbelts for all seven occupants, six airbags, the latest ESC (Electronic Stability Control), and brake assist.
The exterior features Chevrolet's signature front fascia, enhanced with a larger "Bowtie" emblem for an even more powerful impression. The overall design is sleek and refined. While the body dimensions are kept to a manageable 4,690mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,790mm in height, making it easy to use in Japan, the interior is spacious. The third-row seats are designed to comfortably accommodate two adults. Additionally, the second and third-row seats can be easily folded, expanding the standard 477-liter flat luggage space to a maximum of 1,577 liters, making it ideal for outdoor activities.
To commemorate the launch of the "Chevrolet Captiva," General Motors Japan will be running a pre-order campaign from Wednesday, June 1 to Friday, July 29. Customers who place an order during this period will receive ¥50,000 worth of accessories tailored to their preferences, including "chrome door mirror covers," "floor mats," as well as "bicycle attachments" and "ski attachments."
The "Chevrolet Captiva" embodies the SUV heritage that Chevrolet has cultivated over many years. It is a vehicle poised to become a companion for an active lifestyle.
