A Flowing Roofline That Sweeps in a Graceful Arc

The A7 Sportback, which shares some parts and modules with the A8 launched in Japan in December 2010 and is positioned between the A8 and A6 in size, has finally arrived in Japan.

The first notable feature of the A7 is its exterior, which combines beauty with practicality. While possessing a sporty design with a low overall height and extremely short front and rear overhangs, unlike a conventional sedan, it has a flowing roofline that forms a gentle arc from the A-pillar to the rear. This fastback style allows for a large rear gate opening, and the A7's notable feature is its luggage compartment, which can hold 535 liters normally or expand to a maximum of 1,390 liters by folding down the rear seats.

The A7's body uses over 20 percent aluminum, achieving approximately a 15 percent weight reduction compared to an all-steel body. Aluminum is used for the front fenders, hood, doors, and rear hatch on the outer panels, as well as for the front body strut brace, optimizing front-rear weight distribution. This ensures high handling performance and, along with its sporty design, delivers agile driving.

The front design features Audi's signature Singleframe grille and LED headlights equipped with an all-weather light function that adjusts its illumination pattern to improve visibility for the driver and other vehicles. It presents a sharp, modern Audi face.

A Luxurious Interior, Hailed as a Work of Art

The interior is finished in Audi's traditional wrap-around design, enveloping the driver. By fusing carefully selected materials such as high-quality Milano leather seats and natural wood trim with the exquisite craftsmanship of artisans, it boasts a quality that is hailed as a work of art.

It comes standard with LED ambient lighting that creates a mood within the cabin during night driving, and an MMI (Multi Media Interface) featuring an 8-inch large touchscreen with a touchpad and voice recognition function, now found in almost all of Audi's latest models.

The powertrain consists of a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged TFSI engine producing a maximum output of 220 kW (300 ps) and a maximum torque of 440 Nm (44.9 kgm). It is paired with a 7-speed S tronic transmission and, naturally, Audi's "quattro" all-wheel-drive system.

In terms of environmental performance, thanks to the engine start-stop system and energy regeneration mechanism, it achieves a fuel economy of 10.2 km/l and CO2 emissions of 228 g/km based on the 10-15 mode measurement.

The A7 Sportback is available only in right-hand drive and is sold at Audi dealerships nationwide for 8.79 million yen.
