The "A4," a premium mid-size model that combines elegant styling, dynamic driving, and comfort. Audi Japan recorded its highest-ever monthly registration figures at the start of 2011, with the A4 series accounting for 27 percent of those sales and forming the core of its model lineup.

Previously, the A4 was equipped with a 1.8-liter engine, but now a 2.0-liter engine with increased displacement has been adopted for both sedan and Avant types. This engine, which newly incorporates Audi's Valvelift System for efficient exhaust control, in addition to its proprietary FSI direct injection technology and turbocharger for superior boost, has seen its maximum output increase from 160 ps to 180 ps, and its maximum torque significantly boosted from 250 Nm (25.5 kgm) to 320 Nm (32.6 kgm). The transmission is a continuously variable transmission (multitronic).

Alongside the improved driving performance, a key topic for the launch of this entry model is its designation as the third eco-car tax reduction model, following the "A1" and "A3 Sportback 1.4 TFSI." By achieving the "2010 Fuel Economy Standard +20%" and obtaining certification for "Exceeding 2005 Emissions Standards by 75% (4 Stars)," it qualifies for a 50 percent reduction in acquisition tax and weight tax. Fuel economy is measured at 12.6 km/l under the 10-15 mode, with CO2 emissions recorded at 184 g/km.

Only right-hand drive is available, and prices start from 4.4 million yen.
