The BMW Group has decided to donate a total of €1 million (approximately ¥110 million) to support the areas and people affected by the devastating damage caused by the earthquake and tsunami in the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster.

The company's board of management expressed its deep shock at the large-scale disaster in Japan and offered its condolences to the victims. Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management, stated, "Our hearts ache for the plight of those affected. Our thoughts are with the people of Japan as they overcome this difficult time."

The donations from the BMW Group will be split equally (€500,000 each) between the international NGO Save the Children and the Japanese Red Cross Society, and are expected to be used for the relief of traumatized children, emergency support, and regional reconstruction.

Furthermore, BMW Group employees who wish to support the affected regions are also contributing to regional recovery through donations to these organizations.
