Aiming for a Donation of 500,000 Euros

Renault has established a special fund, aiming for a donation of 500,000 euros (approximately 57.5 million yen), which its employees can participate in, as support for the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Since news of the earthquake broke, many Renault employees and unions have expressed a desire to help their colleagues at alliance partner Nissan and the people of Japan. Therefore, the company has provided an opportunity for employees to participate in this special fund.

The entire amount donated to this fund will be given to the Red Cross and is expected to be allocated to urgent areas such as food, medicine and medical care, and blood donation. Currently, the Japanese Red Cross Society has set up 400 rescue teams from 20,000 volunteers, with doctors, nurses, and medical assistants working in the affected areas.

Carlos Ghosn, who also serves as CEO of both Renault and Nissan, stated, "I have heard from Renault employees their desire to support their colleagues at Nissan and the people of Japan." He added, "The solidarity shown in the face of this great tragedy demonstrates the strong relationship between both Renault and Nissan. I hope that this assistance from Renault will help alleviate the difficulties faced by the Japanese people, who continue to maintain their composure and dignity amidst this adversity."

Furthermore, as of March 22nd, Renault Japon has also initiated its own fundraising activities. Donation boxes have been placed at all authorized Renault dealerships nationwide, and the collected funds will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society. We kindly ask for your cooperation should you visit.
