CO2 Emissions of 159g/km!

Porsche Panamera, which has shipped nearly 30,000 units in approximately 15 months since its sales launch and secured a 13 percent share in the upper/luxury segment, now welcomes the "Panamera S Hybrid." This is Porsche's second hybrid model for production vehicles, following the previously reported Cayenne S Hybrid.Cayenne S HybridIt is equipped with the drive unit proven in the Cayenne S Hybrid. Its supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine produces a maximum output of 245kW (333ps). Assisted by a 34kW (47ps) electric motor, it boasts a total system output of 279kW (380ps) as a parallel hybrid.

The electric motor also functions as a generator and starter motor. A compact hybrid module, integrated with a separator clutch, is positioned between the engine and the transmission. The electric motor recovers energy generated during braking and driving, storing it in a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery. The transmission is an 8-speed Tiptronic S with wide ratios, standard on all Cayenne models. Information on driving conditions is provided to the driver via a display, similar to the Cayenne S Hybrid.

Regarding its environmental performance, fuel consumption is a mere 7.1ℓ/100km (14.1km/ℓ *NEDC), with CO2 emissions at 167g/km. Furthermore, with the optional Michelin all-season tires developed exclusively for the Panamera, rolling resistance is further reduced. Fuel consumption achieves a class-leading 6.8ℓ/100km (14.7km/ℓ *NEDC), and CO2 emissions reach an astonishing 159g/km. Porsche states this is not only the model with the lowest fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in Porsche's history but also leads all hybrid cars in the luxury class.

Despite Low Fuel Consumption, High Performance with 0-100km/h Acceleration in 6.0 Seconds

Naturally, its performance surpasses the conventional image of hybrid cars, achieving 0-100km/h acceleration in 6.0 seconds and a top speed of 270km/h. Depending on driving conditions, it can also travel approximately 2km on electric power alone at speeds up to 85km/h.

Similar to the Cayenne S Hybrid and the Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid with the same system, the hybrid drive features a unique coasting function that further improves fuel efficiency on highways and main rural roads. This system disengages the engine from the drivetrain and shuts it off when the engine's driving force is not transmitted, at speeds up to 165km/h (156km/h for the Cayenne S Hybrid).

With the addition of the hybrid version, the Panamera model range now comprises six variants. Porsche proudly states that this clearly embodies the "Porsche Intelligent Performance" concept and presents a completely new lineup in the premium upper-class segment, offering everything from sporty to environmentally friendly models.

The price of the Panamera S Hybrid in Germany is 106,185 euros (approximately 11.99 million yen). While the introduction date in Japan has not been announced, considering the Panamera 4S, which has a similar price range, costs 103,150 euros in Germany (approximately 11.65 million yen) and is sold for 14.36 million yen in Japan, it is expected to be priced around 15 million yen.
