Volvo S60 and V60 Complete Models Arrive in Japan Again This Year

On June 1, Volvo Car Japan announced that the "S60 Polestar" and "V60 Polestar," complete cars developed by Polestar, Volvo's specialist tuning company, would be offered in a limited run of 50 units. Reservations are now open via a dedicated website.

Polestar-Tuned for 350ps Maximum Output

Developed by Polestar, the official performance partner responsible for engineering within Volvo's racing division.S60 Polestar and V60 Polestarwill be arriving in Japan again this year, following their debut last year.

The S60 Polestar and V60 Polestar are high-performance models based on the "S60 T6 AWD R Design" and "V60 T6 AWD R Design," respectively, with engineering enhancements by Polestar. Last year, they were first launched in eight countries worldwide, including Japan, and this year sales will expand to 13 countries.

The powertrain features a 3-liter inline-six turbo engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with a sport mode, delivering a maximum output of 258 kW (350 ps) and peak torque of 500 Nm (51.0 kgm). A Haldex all-wheel-drive system is employed, with Polestar's tuning allocating more drive force to the rear wheels.

The suspension utilizes Öhlins DFV shock absorbers. Compared to the standard R Design sports suspension, the spring rate is increased by 80 percent, and the chassis is further reinforced with specialized components such as strengthened bush mounts, stabilizers, and a carbon fiber reinforced front strut bar.

The exterior features a dedicated front spoiler to optimize airflow beneath the car, along with a specialized rear spoiler and diffuser to enhance downforce. The cars are also equipped with Polestar's exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels.

Naturally, Volvo's signature "IntelliSafe Ten," a suite of 10 advanced safety and driver-assistance features including the "Human Safety" full auto-brake system that detects pedestrians and cyclists to avoid or mitigate collisions, and adaptive cruise control, are also standard equipment.

The S60 Polestar and V60 Polestar are available in three colors: the iconic Polestar Blue, Ice White, and Onyx Black Metallic. The S60 Polestar is limited to 10 units at 8.29 million yen, while the V60 Polestar is limited to 40 units at 8.49 million yen.

Campaign Offers Performance Package for 60 Series Models

To commemorate the launch of these special models, a campaign is being held until Friday, July 31st, offering a complimentary in-dealership installation of the optional "Polestar Performance Package" for T6 engine models of the "S60," "V60," and the crossover "XC60." This package boosts maximum output by 25 ps, from 304 ps to 329 ps, and increases peak torque by 40 Nm, from 440 Nm to 480 Nm, while maintaining the same fuel efficiency as the standard models.
