Lamborghini SUV Gets Go-Ahead for Market Introduction
Lamborghini, which unveiled its SUV concept model in 2012, is finally moving forward. The company has announced that it will accelerate research and development and expand its headquarters factory with a target launch in 2018.

Automobili Lamborghini today revealed that it will introduce a high-end SUV to the market in 2018, following theAventadorandHuracanas its third model. This model is, of course, the "SUV concept Urus" unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show in 2012.Urus.
Production of the new model will take place at the company's headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy. To accommodate this, Lamborghini will expand its factory site from the current 80,000 square meters to approximately 150,000 square meters. The expansion will include the construction of new facilities such as production lines and warehouses, as well as the enlargement of the development department. The company also plans to create 500 new jobs.
As stated by CEO and Chairman Stephan Winkelmann, "Producing the new SUV in Sant'Agata Bolognese demonstrates our commitment to maintaining the global reputation of 'Made in Italy,'" indicating a strong emphasis on its Italian roots.
With the recent announcements of entry into the ultra-high-end SUV category byBentley, andRolls-Royce, the addition of Lamborghini, a manufacturer of super sports cars, to this segment is sure to further capture market attention.
Many owners are likely anticipating the revival of the Lamborghini "LM002," released in the 1980s and 90s. The new model targets primary markets in the United States, China, the Middle East, the UK, Germany, and Russia, aiming to attract families who may not be familiar with the brand. Lamborghini aims to double its total sales figures by adding the SUV, with a target of around 3,000 units produced annually. The company's future developments are certainly worth watching.
