Citroën DS4 Powertrain and Model Lineup Renewed

Peugeot Citroën Japon will update the DS4's powertrain to the latest environmentally compliant specifications. Concurrently, the lineup will be renewed and sales will commence on June 6th.

Lineup Consolidated into Chic with 6-Speed AT

Among Citroën's DS brand models, the "DS4" is a crossover model that combines a flowing roofline reminiscent of a four-door coupe with the elevated eye-point of an SUV. This DS4 has received an update to its engine and transmission to improve environmental performance.

The engine, an improved version of the previous 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo, now complies with Europe's new Euro 6 emissions standard. Power output has also increased by 3 ps to 165 ps. Furthermore, the 6-speed automatic transmission has been optimized for fuel efficiency with higher gearing and an expanded lock-up range, while the shift times in manual mode have been shortened, reportedly enhancing its sportiness.

Additionally, it is equipped with a stop-and-start function, an idling stop mechanism, and fuel economy in the JC08 mode has improved by approximately 32 percent, from the previous 11.3 km/ℓ to 14.9 km/ℓ.

With these changes, the "Sport Chic" model with 200 ps and a 6-speed manual transmission has been discontinued. The DS4's grade structure now consists of two models: the Chic and the Chic Xenon Package, which adds further equipment.

As its name suggests, the Chic Xenon Package includes xenon headlights, along with 18-inch alloy wheels, a smart key, and aluminum pedals. The distinctive watchstrap-shaped club leather seats are also available as an option exclusively with this package.

The pricing for the new DS4 starts at 3.2 million yen for the Chic, and 3.4 million yen for the Chic Xenon Package, a 200,000 yen increase. Sales will begin on June 6th.
