The Five-Door Evoque: Enhanced Practicality
The Range Rover Evoque is the first compact off-road 4WD in the Range Rover lineup. In July, a three-door concept model was unveiled, blending coupe and SUV elements with its innovative design, and rumors of its commercialization had been circulating. The five-door version, now revealed, has transformed into a model with even greater practicality than before.
While the body dimensions have not been officially announced, the overall height is 30mm greater than the three-door model. Rear shoulder room offers over 50mm more space than the three-door, while the length and width remain unchanged from the concept model. Indeed, this new Range Rover emphasizes its compact nature. The rear seats feature a 60:40 split-folding design, allowing for the installation of child seats. Folding them down expands the luggage capacity to a maximum of 1445 liters.
The engine planned for this model is the same as the three-door: a newly developed 2-liter direct-injection inline four-cylinder turbo, which boasts excellent fuel efficiency while delivering performance comparable to a six-cylinder engine, with a maximum output of 240ps.
The new five-door Evoque is scheduled for a phased global rollout starting around the summer of 2011, with sales in Japan planned for spring 2012. The base price in the UK has been announced at £30,000 (approximately ¥3.98 million).
