Nissan JUKE | NISSAN JUKE 16GT Adds newly developed engine
Nissan JUKE 16GT / 16GT FOUR
The Next Step for a Blockbuster Hit
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has added the "16GT/16GT FOUR" to its compact sports crossover "JUKE," featuring a newly developed turbo engine for sportier performance. The new models went on sale nationwide on November 2nd.

1.6-Liter Direct Injection Gasoline Unit + High-Efficiency Turbo
The "JUKE" pioneered a new genre: the "compact sports crossover." Its bold, distinctive design, excellent driving performance, high environmental efficiency, and reasonable price have led to sales exceeding 50,000 units in just four months since its launch. Now, a new turbo model joins this popular lineup.
The newly installed engine is the "MR16DDT." It combines a 1.6-liter direct injection gasoline system with improved combustion efficiency and a small, high-efficiency turbocharger, utilizing variable valve timing (CVTC) for both intake and exhaust. By enhancing combustion efficiency and reducing friction, it produces a maximum output of 140kW (190ps) at 5600rpm and a maximum torque of 240Nm (24.5kgm) between 2000-5200rpm. Its power continues to high RPMs, and its torque builds from relatively low RPMs, achieving both brisk acceleration and excellent fuel economy.
These turbo engine models are available in two types: the FF "16GT" and the 4WD "16GT FOUR." Not only the engine but also a new Xtronic CVT with a 6-speed manual mode has been equipped. For example, when the "Sport" mode is selected on the "Intelligent Control Display," the CVT engages stepped shifting control upon acceleration, delivering strong, extended acceleration with an emphasized shift-up feel.
Simultaneously, the electric power steering has been controlled to provide a more solid steering feel, allowing for an even more enjoyable sporty drive. Furthermore, the "16GT FOUR" features the newly developed ALL MODE 4X4-i (with torque vectoring), an evolution of the conventional "ALL MODE 4X4-i." In addition to controlling torque distribution between the front and rear wheels, it can also control torque distribution to the left and right rear wheels. This is achieved through electronic control couplings mounted on either side of the rear final drive, which distribute greater torque to the outer wheel during cornering, imparting a turning moment to the vehicle and suppressing understeer.
The suspension has also been tuned exclusively for the 16GT, and it features rear disc brakes and standard 17-inch tires and alloy wheels. For the 16GT FOUR, the rear suspension has been changed from the torsion beam type of the 2WD model to a multi-link system. By improving rear-wheel grip, it maximizes the potential of the "MR16DDT" engine and "ALL MODE 4X4-i (with torque vectoring)."
The body color "Steel Blue" has been newly adopted exclusively for the 16GT/16GT FOUR, with a total of eight colors available.
