The Names of a Legendary Car and Ferrari
The Fiat 500, revived in 2007 (2008 in Japan), was a huge hit. An Abarth version also appeared, and now, a truly flagship model is arriving in the Japanese market.
Many car enthusiasts likely feel a special connection to the name Abarth 695. The Abarth 695 was a model tuned to the extreme by Abarth, based on the Fiat 500. While the reborn 695, appearing nearly half a century later, has an engine displacement of 1368cc rather than 695cc, it is a machine with the same "passion."
The most significant feature of the "Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari" is that not only Abarth but also Ferrari participated significantly in its technical tuning. The engine is based on the familiar 1.4-liter inline-4 turbo "T-Jet 16v" and has been tuned. It produces a maximum output of 132kW (180ps) at 5,500rpm and a maximum torque of 250Nm (25.5kgm). The transmission is a 5-speed sequential "Abarth Competizione" with an AT mode. Equipped with racing-style paddle shifters, it significantly reduces shift times to maximize the machine's performance.
As the name "Tributo Ferrari" suggests, the wheels are exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels designed with inspiration from Ferrari's wheels. High-performance tires are used to enhance grip. Furthermore, the suspension and braking systems have been strengthened to match the increased power. The front features Brembo 4-piston calipers (red finish), drilled ventilated discs, and dedicated dampers. The exhaust system, "Record Monza," with a 2-way valve that produces an exhilarating sound above 3,000rpm, has also been meticulously tuned to ensure it lives up to the Ferrari name.
Other equipment includes bi-xenon headlights from Magneti Marelli Automotive Lighting, which offer three times the light output and lifespan of conventional halogen lamps, ensuring effective illumination under all weather conditions.
The seats are "Abarth Corsa by Sabelt," featuring a carbon fiber shell and base combined with black leather. They offer the lightness of racing seats (10kg less than standard seats) and excellent hold against lateral and longitudinal G-forces due to support members filled with resilient foam, while also providing the ergonomics and comfort of standard seats. The black leather steering wheel is accented with a tricolor design, and the meter panel is a Jaeger special edition, reminiscent of Ferrari.
Meticulous attention extends to the floor, with the entire footwell covered in non-slip aluminum. The racing pedals feature the "Scorpione" logo, and exclusive kick plates and a vehicle serial number plate are also included.
The total global production of the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari is 1,696 units, with 150 allocated to Japan. In addition to Rosso Corsa (Red), three optional body colors are available: Giallo Modena (Yellow), Blu Abu Dhabi (Blue), and Grigio Titano (Gray). The allocations are 110 units for yellow, 30 for blue, and 5 each for gray. The price is ¥5,695,000 (Giallo Modena is an additional ¥100,000; Blu Abu Dhabi and Grigio Titano are an additional ¥200,000).
