First Domestic Installation of 2.7-Liter 1AR-FE Engine

The RX270, part of the RX series of SUVs, features the 2.7-liter 1AR-FE engine, making its domestic debut. This engine achieves a superior balance of environmental and dynamic performance, delivering both class-leading fuel efficiency and powerful acceleration.

Paired with the Super ECT transmission, it achieves a fuel economy of 10.4 km/ℓ under the 10.15 mode. This figure exceeds the fuel efficiency target standards set by the Energy Saving Act by 15 percent, and the vehicle has been certified as a low-emission vehicle by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
Consequently, the vehicle qualifies for the "Tax System for Promotion of Low-Emission Vehicles," resulting in a 50 percent reduction in acquisition tax and weight tax.
The elegance and power inherent to Lexus are now complemented by high environmental performance, creating a more comfortable and luxurious SUV for both the driver and the natural world.

A Lineup for Those Aiming Higher

In addition to the standard model, the RX270 is available in two other trims: "Version L" and "Version S." The Version L features semi-aniline leather seats (with driver/front passenger position memory, ventilation, and heating functions), and a steering wheel and shift knob crafted from genuine wood and leather.

This trim is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels. The Version S offers exclusive suspension tuning for shock absorber damping response and power steering characteristics, creating an appealing lineup.

With prices starting at 4.15 million yen for the standard model, 4.27 million yen for the Version L, and 4.73 million yen for the Version S, it represents the most affordable price range within the RX series, making it a model that broadens accessibility to a wider audience.

BRAND HISTORY
Toyota launched its luxury car brand LEXUS in the American market in 1989. The aim was to offer a new value proposition, distinct from American and German luxury cars, by leveraging Toyota's advanced technological prowess, superior quality, and exceptional customer service.

In September of the same year, the "LS400" (domestic name: Celsior) and "ES250" (domestic name: Camry) were introduced to the American market. By February of the following year, 1990, the LS400 had already earned the title of Best Import Car. Lexus's reputation continued to grow, and with an expanding lineup, it solidified its position as a luxury car brand.

Following its success in America, Lexus expanded into Europe in 2004 and announced its business development in Japan in May of the same year. In August 2005, the brand launched its luxury car business in its home country. Initially, the lineup consisted of the "GS" (successor to Toyota's Aristo), "SC" (successor to Toyota's Soarer), and "IS" (successor to Toyota's Altezza), lacking a flagship "LS." However, the introduction of the long-awaited new LS in September 2006, followed by its hybrid version, the "LS600h/LS600hL," in May 2007, met the expectations of the luxury sedan market.

Meanwhile, Lexus has focused on building a sporty image, announcing the sports model "IS F" in October 2007 and entering the developing sports coupe "LF-A" in the Nürburgring 24 Hours race in May 2008, further enhancing its appeal and anticipating increased popularity.
