A Prototype of the Ultimate Convertible
To coincide with the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show, Bentley has unveiled the "Grand Convertible," an open-top model that embodies elegance and British luxury. This can be seen as a precursor to a two-door, four-seat open-top model based on Bentley's flagshipMulsanne".
The Grand Convertible features a striking, iridescent blue body color named "Sequin Blue," inspired by a single sequin from a haute couture dress once commissioned by a discerning customer. Liquid silver accents on the bonnet and windscreen provide a striking contrast, while the wheels are polished to a dazzling sheen.
The interior showcases Bentley's renowned craftsmanship, featuring 14 hides of natural leather meticulously stitched in a diamond quilting pattern. The quilting design differs between the door trims and the seats. Additionally, hand-stitched cross-stitching in Sequin Blue, matching the body color, adorns the trims, creating a beautiful contrast with the linen-colored leather.
The tonneau cover, which houses the retractable roof, is crafted from exquisite burr walnut, with the grain meticulously matched for perfect symmetry. It is finished with a mirror-like polish, a dark stain, and parallel lines of chrome plating.
The engine is Bentley's traditional 6.75-liter V8 twin-turbo, shared with the Mulsanne Speed, delivering an output of 395 kW (537 ps) and 1,100 Nm of torque. It is engineered to provide the refined driving experience befitting a luxury grand tourer.
While currently a concept, Bentley is "very excited to see how our customers will respond to this car. When it eventually goes into production, it will be an extremely rare and exclusive vehicle." This statement hints at the possibility of production, much like the "EXP 9 F" concept, which eventually led to a production decision after receiving positive feedback.
The Grand Convertible will be unveiled to the public at the Los Angeles Auto Show, followed by an appearance at Art Basel Miami in December.
