A Five-Door TT That Retains Its Iconic Style

This spring,Geneva Motor Showwas officially announced. The third-generation Audi "TT" and "TTS"will be open to the public from October 4th.Paris Salonat the"TT Roadster" and "TTS Roadster"were announced to have their world premiere, and it seemed that the body variations, consisting of coupe and roadster like previous models, would be completed.

However, at the same Paris Salon, a "surprise" was prepared with almost no prior information. The Audi "TT Sportback Concept," a five-door version of the latest TT coupe, made its show debut.

The Audi TT Sportback Concept inherits the symbolic style of the successive Audi TTs, which first appeared sensationally as the "TT Concept" in 1995, introduced Bauhaus-like design into modern automotive design, and later greatly influenced designers and manufacturers worldwide. The wheelbase has been extended by 12 cm to 2.63 meters compared to the TT, the overall length by 29 cm to 4.47 meters, and the width by 6 cm to 1.89 meters. On the other hand, the overall height of the concept car is set at 1.38 meters, 3 cm lower than the TT coupe.

The powerful shoulder line supporting the low-slung cabin that extends to the rear, and the flat C-pillar elegantly flowing towards the shoulder,Audi "A5" and "S5"and"A7" and "S7"follow the "Sportback line" introduced in these models. The corners of the beautifully rounded rear window are an homage to the original TT.

Bringing the Sportback to the TT Lineup

The power unit installed in this concept car is a 2-liter 4-cylinder direct-injection turbo 2.0TFSI engine, producing a maximum output of 400 ps and a maximum torque of 450 Nm. Combined with a 7-speed S tronic and "quattro" full-time 4WD system, it delivers high performance with a 0-100 km/h acceleration of just 3.9 seconds. However, if it were to go into production as a final model, it is likely to have the same lineup as the TT coupe and TT roadster.

Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi's Board Member for Technical Development, released the following comment upon the announcement of this model:

"Over the past 20 years, Audi has created a design with the TT that has become an automotive design icon. Since then, we have created sporty and elegant five-door models such asA5 Sportbackand A7 Sportback. Now, with the TT Sportback Concept, we have merged both concepts to create a new model that could become part of the Audi TT family."

Regarding the possibility of production, Audi has a history of announcing concept cars that foreshadow the next generation TT, such as in 2005 just before the debut of the second generation, andthis year's Detroit Motor Showjust before that, but these did not lead to production. Therefore, the possibility of the TT Sportback Concept being put into mass production remains unknown, at least at this time.Allroad Shooting Brake ConceptTherefore, the possibility of the TT Sportback Concept being put into mass production remains unknown, at least at this time.
