Three Body Variations Available

The latest V-Class boasts a large body exceeding 5 meters in length, equipped with sliding doors and three rows of seats, all enveloped in a luxurious interior befitting Mercedes-Benz. The first generation was born in 1999 as a derivative of a commercial van. While the second generation saw its name changed to "Viano" (though it reverted to V-Class in Japan after a minor model change), this full model change marks the debut of the third-generation V-Class.

The front face features a bold grille and sharp headlights, reminiscent of recent models like theA-Class, theE-Class, theS-Class, and theC-Class. Furthermore, a character line extending from the front fender to the rear, and the lower edge of the side windows, designed to appear arched at both ends, clearly identify it as the latest member of the Mercedes family. Of course, LED lighting is available as an option for these headlights.

Three body variations are offered, differing in overall length. The standard model measures 4,895mm in length with a wheelbase of 3,200mm. The long model is 5,140mm long, sharing the same 3,200mm wheelbase as the standard model. The extra-long model, planned for future release, will be 5,370mm in length with a 3,430mm wheelbase. The overall height for all models is 1,880mm, with the width not yet announced.

The launch engine is a 2.1-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo diesel, available in three output levels: 100kW (136ps), 120kW (163ps), and 140kW (190ps). The engine in the entry-level "V 200 CDI" produces a maximum output of 100kW (136ps) and a maximum torque of 330Nm. It boasts fuel efficiency of 6.1 L/100km (approximately 16.4 km/L) and CO2 emissions of 149g/km.

The mid-range "V 220 CDI" is equipped with an engine that delivers a maximum output of 120kW (163ps) and a maximum torque of 380Nm. Meanwhile, the top-grade "V 250 BlueTEC" features an engine with a maximum output of 140kW (190ps) and 440Nm of torque. Combined with a 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, known as 7G-TRONIC PLUS, it achieves performance comparable to the previous generation's V6 diesel engine, with a 0-100km/h acceleration of 9.1 seconds and a top speed of 206km/h. Despite this, fuel efficiency is 6.0 L/100km (approximately 16.7 km/L), representing a 28% improvement.

The V 200 CDI and V 220 CDI are paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The new V-Class is equipped with a new "AGILITY SELECT" function, allowing drivers to enjoy the driving experience even in a minivan. This feature allows selection from four driving modes—Economical, Sport, Comfort, and Manual—via button operation. Each mode adjusts the engine, accelerator, and transmission behavior, enabling drivers to enjoy different driving styles according to the situation. Additionally, in modes other than Economical, an additional 10kW/40Nm of overtorque is available during acceleration.

Diverse Seating Configurations

The interior has also been redesigned. The dashboard, divided into upper and lower sections, features a three-dimensional design with a significantly protruding lower half. Seat materials are standard fabric or leather, but Nappa leather seats are available with the designo package.

The center console is equipped with a touch-sensitive multimedia controller, adopted from the S-Class, allowing for operation of audio and navigation systems via touch and gestures, similar to a smartphone. To facilitate operation while driving, 12 buttons are arranged on the steering wheel, and voice control "LINGUATRONIC" is also available as an option for enhanced convenience.

As a minivan where rear seats are also important, a wide range of seating configurations are offered.

The standard configuration is a 6-seater with two individual seats in the middle and rear rows. Alternatively, the second and third rows can be replaced with two-seater or three-seater bench seats, allowing for a maximum of 8 occupants.

Furthermore, an optional bench seat for the third row, integrated with the headrests, is available. This seat can be folded down to create a bed approximately 2 meters long and 1.3 meters wide, ideal for overnight stays in the vehicle.

Regardless of the chosen seat configuration, the provision of a three-point seatbelt for each occupant underscoresMercedes-Benz'scommitment to safety.

Equipped with the Latest Safety Features

The utility of the minivan extends beyond its seating. The rear tailgate, providing access to the cargo area, features a separately opening glass section, enhancing convenience for loading small items or in tight spaces. With the optional EASY-PACK system, the tailgate becomes powered, not only opening and closing automatically but also allowing it to be stopped at any desired angle.

With the optional THERMOTRONIC system, the independently adjustable air conditioning can be controlled remotely via the car's key fob. This allows the cabin to be brought to a comfortable temperature before occupants get in, whether on a hot summer day or a cold winter morning.

Naturally, it is equipped with the latest safety features. The "INTELLIGENT DRIVE" system, utilizing radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors—as seen in the E-Class and S-Class—is available.Intelligent Driveis offered.

Standard features include "CROSSWIND ASSIST," which mitigates swaying caused by crosswinds, and "ATTENTION ASSIST," which issues a warning if driver fatigue is detected.
