Sporty Looks Enhance Aerodynamics
Announced on November 18th, the 107th birthday of Sir Alec Issigonis, widely considered the father of MINI, was thenew MINI. Immediately following its debut, it was publicly unveiled at theTokyo Motor Show, and theLos Angeles Auto Show, the third-generation MINI, which was just publicly unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show and the Los Angeles Auto Show, will feature a concept model from John Cooper Works. It will be unveiled in January at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
The MINI John Cooper Works Concept features a body in Bright Highway Grey with a red roof. The body paint has fine hairline strokes, creating a solid impression. True to JCW's style, stripes run in a straight line from the tip of the bonnet, over the roof, to the rear end; the bonnet and rear are in Chili Red, while the roof provides a white contrast.
To further enhance the aerodynamics improved in the base model, a JCW aerodynamic kit has been fitted, giving the entire vehicle a dynamic and sporty finish. Where fog lights are mounted on the new MINI, there are large air intakes emphasized with red accents, and the trapezoidal front grille is bordered in black instead of chrome.
Additionally, dedicated side skirts and a roof spoiler have been adopted, and fins have been attached to the rear of the C-pillar to improve aerodynamic balance at high speeds. The car rides on newly designed 18-inch John Cooper Works light-alloy wheels.
The rear underbody incorporates a diffuser, and from the center, twin tailpipes with an integrated JCW sports exhaust system emerge. The ends of the pipes are chrome-plated and adorned with the JCW logo.
The new MINI is 98mm longer, 44mm wider, and 7mm taller than its predecessor, while also achieving weight reduction. This has further emphasized the "go-kart feeling" characteristic of the MINI. John Cooper Works claims to further elevate this driving experience by utilizing a powerful engine, high-performance chassis, and aerodynamics, building upon these evolved foundations.
This concept appears to be primarily a design study, with no detailed specifications announced yet, but it is sure to be a model that sparks future interest.
