Maria Sharapova Also Appears at Preview Night

As has already been reported, the "Macan," Porsche's first compact SUV and a smaller sibling to the Cayenne, was simultaneously world-premiered at the Tokyo Motor Show, which opened on November 20th, and at the L.A. Auto Show. Here, it was unveiled at the L.A. Auto Show's preview night held on the evening of November 19th, local time. Despite the time difference, the gap was only a few hours, but Porsche seemed intent on a "world premiere" in L.A.Tokyo Motor ShowPorsche seemed intent on a "world premiere" in L.A., even though it was world-premiered almost simultaneously with the Tokyo Motor Show. At the L.A. show, the premiere was held on the evening of November 19th, local time. Despite the time difference, the gap was only a few hours.

As evidence of this, Porsche brand ambassador and tennis player Maria Sharapova appeared at the venue to introduce the Macan, making it a stage befitting a worldwide debut.

The Macan, Porsche's first entry into the compact SUV segment, will be offered in three versions: the "Macan S," equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine producing a maximum output of 250 kW (340 hp); the "Macan Turbo," powered by a 3.6-liter V6 twin-turbo engine with a maximum output of 294 kW (400 hp); and the "Macan S Diesel," featuring a 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel engine with a maximum output of 190 kW (258 hp). All models come standard with all-wheel drive and PDK.

In the North American market, the Macan will compete in the same class and price range as Audi'sQ5", BMW'sBMW"X5", and theX3", Cadillac'sSRX Crossover", Lincoln's MKX, and Lexus'sLexus"RX". It is a popular segment, and a hot one where many premium brands fiercely compete.

Furthermore, the "911 Turbo Cabriolet" and "911 Turbo S Cabriolet" are also models commemorating the 40th anniversary of the "911 Turbo." At the entrance of the Porsche booth, the first-generation "911 Turbo Cabriolet" was displayed, a subtle yet effective touch that conveyed history and tradition to visitors. This respect for past models, never forgotten, is perhaps another wonderful aspect of Porsche.

The scale of the event, the number of North American premieres, and the space and presentation designed for customer comfort on public viewing days all clearly indicate a powerful promotion aimed at fully showcasing Porsche's performance and advanced technology in North America, the largest market, and specifically in California, which has strict environmental regulations. This special venue alone demonstrates how much Porsche values the L.A. Auto Show and how important the North American market is to the company.
