Small SUV Meaning "Tiger"

At the Tokyo Motor Show, Porsche will exhibit nine models, including one world premiere and five Japan premieres. The most anticipated among them is theLos Angelescompact SUV, the "Macan," which will be announced in Japan just a few hours after its world premiere in Los Angeles.



The "Macan," whose name originates from the Indonesian word for "tiger," is a compact SUV that is slightly smaller than the existing "Cayenne." It will be the fifth model in Porsche's lineup, following the911," theBoxster," theCayman," the "Cayenne," and thePanamera.


The Macan is expected to feature a V6 engine in a body approximately 4,600mm long, smaller than the Cayenne. Given that the model appearing at this Tokyo Motor Show is the "Macan Turbo," it is reasonable to assume that naturally aspirated models will also be available below it. Furthermore, despite a body weight likely around 2,000kg, it boasts impressive environmental performance with fuel economy of 9.2-6.1 L/100km (approximately 10.9-16.4 km/L) and CO2 emissions of 216-159 g/km.



Porsche has already released a teaser video showcasing the Macan driving through city streets in California, as well as footage from tests in harsh desert conditions, demonstrating its superior off-road capability with its 4WD system.

Numerous Japan Premieres Also on Display
