The Allure of the Cabriolet, Elevated
Porschehas announced that it will hold the world premiere of two new models, the '911 Turbo Cabriolet' and '911 Turbo S Cabriolet', at the 'Los Angeles Motor Show' in the United States starting November 20th. Today, ahead of their debut, domestic reservations have begun.
The current 'Porsche 911', known as the Type 991, was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011. Two years have passed, and now it makes its long-awaited appearance.
The 911 Turbo Cabriolet is equipped with a 3.8-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine producing a maximum output of 520 ps (383 kW), while the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet generates 560 ps (412 kW). These models offer performance nearly equivalent to their coupe counterparts.
The 0-100 km/h acceleration times are 3.5 seconds and 3.2 seconds, respectively, just a tenth of a second slower. However, in exchange for the open-air exhilaration gained, these figures hold little significance. Furthermore, the fuel consumption for both models is an impressive 9.9 liters/100 km (CO2 emissions of 231 g/km under NEDC), making their fuel efficiency under 10 liters per 100 km a noteworthy point.
The roof, in true Porsche tradition, is a canvas soft-top. It can be operated while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h, and the top opens or closes in approximately 13 seconds, the same as the previous generation.
The price for the 911 Turbo Cabriolet is 22.49 million yen, and the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is 27.10 million yen. Both models are paired with a 7-speed PDK transmission.
Also, on the same day,Tokyo Motor Showwill be exhibited, marking its Japan premiere.
