Arriving in Japan Soon

The "M6 Gran Coupe" is a special model developed by BMW M, the high-performance division, based on the 4-door version of the 6 Series, theBMW 6 Series Gran Coupe.Its details were announced last December, and now, simultaneously with its world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show, reservations have begun in Japan.

The 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine is a high-revving unit, delivering a maximum output of 412kW (560ps) at 6,000-7,000rpm and a peak torque of 680Nm (69.3kgm) at 1,500-5,750rpm. It is paired with a 7-speed M DCT Drivelogic (dual-clutch) transmission, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in a brisk 4.2 seconds.



Furthermore, it features an Active M Differential that optimally controls the power distribution to the rear wheels between 0 and 100 percent, ensuring maximum traction and stability. It also incorporates a two-piston brake caliper system that is approximately 20kg lighter than the standard brake system, significantly enhancing its dynamic performance.

To accommodate the four doors, the M6 Gran Coupe's wheelbase has been extended by 115mm compared to the coupe model, resulting in a more elongated design. Distinctive features such as the specially designed kidney grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, and carbon fiber mirror housings, roof, and rear diffuser emphasize that this is an "M" car.

The price in Japan is set at 17.3 million yen, with deliveries scheduled to begin in May 2013.
