Redefining the SUV

Honda's 2013 begins in Detroit with two concepts: the "MDX Prototype" and the "Urban SUV Concept."

The MDX Prototype is a crossover SUV sold under the Acura brand. Its first generation debuted in 2001, primarily for the North American market. In Japan, it was sold as the "Honda MDX" until 2006.

As a preview of the next, third generation, sketches of the vehicle have been released for the first time. It is characterized by smooth, flowing, arching body lines and is said to feature an aerodynamically superior design.

Meanwhile, the "Urban SUV Concept" is Honda's new proposal for the small SUV market. It combines a sporty, dynamic design characteristic of SUVs with the spaciousness and functionality afforded by the company's unique center tank layout. This model is intended for global deployment.

The world premiere is scheduled for the Detroit Auto Show, opening January 14th.
