The F-Type was unveiled at the Rodin Museum on the eve of the press days. Its highly eye-catching styling is almost a direct continuation of the concept car "C-X16," which was announced at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show and lauded for its beauty. The C-X16 ConceptIt carries over the image of the
However, while the C-X16 had a closed roof, the F-Type surprisingly debuted as an open-top model. The open-top design accentuates the volume of the rear fenders and the slimness of the trunk lid, lending it a more glamorous impression. At present, there has been no announcement regarding the addition of a coupe version.
The 4,470mm long, two-seater open-top body is crafted from all-aluminum, a Jaguar hallmark. The adoption of new alloy materials allows for even smoother body lines and contributes to weight reduction. The engine options are a 5-liter V8 or a 3-liter V6, both direct-injection supercharged units, driving the rear wheels through an 8-speed Quickshift automatic transmission.
The F-Type is officially slated for release in the spring of 2013. Jaguar plans to execute various promotional activities over the six months leading up to the launch. "The F-Type is an extremely important model for our brand," stated A. Hallmark, Global Brand Director. "Of course, sales are important, but this car will make an unparalleled contribution to transforming our brand's image."
With the car itself being so impressive, and with the evolution of the brand in mind, the future for Jaguar looks increasingly exciting. Armed with the formidable F-Type, the brand appears poised to enter a new era.
