A 300ps Compact Hatchback

Audi at the March 2012Geneva International Motor Showdebuted the newA3 (3-door hatchback), followed by the "A3 Sportback," the second model in the series. The new "S3," positioned at the top of the series as a high-performance model, will have its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in France. Along with the "A3 Sportback," also debuting at the Paris Motor Show, this completes the entire lineup of the new "A3" series.




This is the third generation of the "S3." The powertrain is based on the 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder direct-injection gasoline turbo engine, the "2.0 TFSI," tuned from the second-generation "S3." It boasts 44ps more power than its predecessor, with a maximum output of 221kW (300ps) and a maximum torque of 380Nm (38.7kgm).



With its lightweight body weighing 1,395kg, the new "S3" achieves top-class performance, accelerating from 0-100km/h in 5.1 seconds (5.4 seconds with the 6-speed manual transmission) and reaching a top speed of 250km/h (electronically limited). However, despite this performance, it also meets modern environmental demands with a European combined fuel economy of 14.5km/ℓ (14.3km/ℓ for the 6-speed manual) and CO2 emissions of 159g/km (162g/km for the 6-speed manual).

The new "S3" is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed dual-clutch "S tronic" transmission, and of course, Audi's renowned full-time all-wheel-drive system, "quattro." The tires are 225/40R18, paired with 7.5J x 18-inch "S-spec design" wheels featuring a powerful five-parallel-spoke shape. Like its predecessor, it offers a balance of fun handling and the exceptional driving stability provided by the "quattro" system.



Similar to the new "A3" series, it features the next-generation "MMI (Multi Media Interface)" with a monitor set at the top of the highly visible dashboard and miniaturized, more user-friendly controls. As with Audi's sporty lineup, this premium model includes attractive features such as...S4andS5,S6,S8, and other existing "S models," it is equipped with appealing features such as sporty seats, a high-quality interior, and the premium "Bang & Olufsen" audio system, now indispensable for Audi's premium models.
