GLK Class for 2013 Model Year

Mercedes-Benz of Germany has released details and images of the 2013 model year of its compact SUV, the GLK Class.

GLK Class Modernization Complete

The GLK Class, the smallest, most affordable, and most fuel-efficient SUV in the Mercedes-Benz lineup, is set to receive its 2013 model year update.

Compared to the previous model, the 2013 version features standard LED daytime running lights in the front fog lamp area, along with redesigned headlights, taillights, wheels, and rear bumper. Even finer details like the roof rail design have been updated, giving the entire vehicle a refreshed look in line with Mercedes-Benz's current design language.

With the optional "AMG Exterior Sports Package," both the front and rear designs adopt AMG specifications, including chrome-finished fins on the radiator grille, AMG LED daytime running lights, and 19-inch AMG 5-spoke lightweight alloy wheels. Furthermore, the suspension setup will be sportier.

Starting with Six Diesel and One Gasoline Engine

There will be seven grades in total: two rear-wheel-drive models with a standard 6-speed manual transmission, and five all-wheel-drive models with a 7-speed automatic transmission called 7G-TRONIC PLUS, designated by the "4MATIC" in their model names.

The sole gasoline engine model among these seven is the "350 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY." While its 3,498cc naturally aspirated V6 unit is the same as the previous model, it has been updated to deliver 225 kW (306 ps), a 25 kW increase in maximum output, and 369 Nm, a 19 Nm increase in maximum torque.

Three types of wheels can be fitted: 17-inch, 19-inch, and 20-inch, with options for painted and high-gloss finishes. Aerodynamically optimized 17-inch wheels will also be available.

Additionally, for off-road driving, an "Off-Road Engineering Package" is available, which adjusts light settings and modifies the shift and acceleration programs, just like before. The "Driving Assistance Package" offers features similar to those found in the S-Class and E-Class, including DISTRONIC PLUS with radar-based forward monitoring, BAS PLUS with PRE-SAFE® Brake to assist with emergency braking, PRE-SAFE® for automatic collision preparation, and Lane Keeping Assist.
