Improved Output and Reduced Weight
The Ferrari California was announced at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The changes made to its 2013 model are not particularly extensive.
Firstly, the exhaust manifold, which cools and purifies exhaust gases, has been updated, and the engine mapping has been modified, resulting in a 22kW (30ps) increase in maximum output to 360kW (490ps), and a 20Nm increase in maximum torque to 505Nm/5,000rpm. Consequently, the 0-100km/h acceleration time has also been reduced from 3.9 seconds to 3.8 seconds.
Additionally, there have been minor modifications to the chassis. Although details are not fully disclosed, it appears that approximately 30kg of weight reduction has been achieved through a technology called "Cutting-Edge Aluminum Fabrication Technology."
For those seeking sporty performance, an optional "Handling Special Package" is also available. This package includes stiffer spring settings and a quicker steering ratio to suppress body roll and enable precise body control, along with magnetorheological dampers that utilize magnetic fields for rapid response, controlled by a high-speed integrated control unit.
The range of available color schemes has been expanded, allowing for two-tone finishes, and the existing body colors have also been reviewed for their hues.
According to Ferrari, production of this 2013 California has already begun. It is scheduled to be launched in Europe first, with a seven-year maintenance program included.
