Test Drive: The New Civic—The 6MT Model is Flawlessly Executed

Clean Interior and Exterior

The new model measures 4,550mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,415mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735mm. The increased length and wheelbase, each by 30mm and 35mm respectively compared to the previous generation, translate into more space for the rear seats and luggage.
The exterior design is considerably cleaner than the previous generation's aggressive styling. It features a low-profile hood with excellent visibility, A-pillars set back by 50mm, a rear hatch with a lowered hinge line for a smoother curve, and a horizontal beltline.
The interior design complements this with a horizontal theme and excellent visibility. The tilt and telescopic steering wheel, the low-set driver's seat, and the dashboard designed to match create a driving position reminiscent of a sports car.
According to the development team, this design was inspired by the third-generation Wonder Civic. They could have lowered it further, but they decided on the current position, which allows for comfortable driving even at 200 km/h, as a lower setting might induce anxiety at higher average speeds in regions like Europe. This thoughtful consideration is a wonderful aspect, characteristic of Honda vehicles. The design also incorporates new elements like the wide mesh-panel air vents, adding a sense of modernity.
