Fun even at 50 km/h – Test drive the Ferrari Portofino M | Ferrari
A Ferrari You Can Use Every Day
Naturally, as a product of Ferrari, known for its F1 prowess, the details are meticulously crafted. One example is that about 90% of operations can be performed without removing your hands from the steering wheel. Shifts, turn signals, and wipers are all controlled with your thumb.
Another highlight of this car is the "Manettino" drive mode selector. In addition to the standard "Comfort" and "Sport" modes, it offers "Wet" for safe driving on slippery surfaces, and its opposite, "Race" (newly added), as well as "ESC Off" for track use. These modes can be selected manually.
When driven in "Comfort" mode with automatic gear shifting, the ride is serene. For those who want to enjoy the drive, switching to "Sport" mode and selecting gears manually provides a direct, integrated driving experience that truly lives up to the Ferrari name.
During the test drive, Ferrari Japan cautioned against using the "Race" and "ESC Off" modes in urban environments. These modes allow for full utilization of the engine's power, enabling drifts where the rear end slides out, but they are intended for track use.
Even when driving with the top fully down, wind buffeting is minimal. In fact, it's better to drive with the side windows lowered. The aerodynamic design is impressive; the windshield is taller than on models like the 12-cylinder "812 GTS," prioritizing comfort and providing a sense of secure enclosure for the occupants.
The infotainment system, including navigation and audio, has also been made more user-friendly. It's easy to see why the Japanese subsidiary defines it as an "Everyday Ferrari."
Another GT model with the same powertrain is the coupe "Roma," announced on April 1, 2020, which is popular for its stylish design. Ferrari's V8 GT offerings are comprised of these two distinct models, making it a difficult choice for a potential buyer. The price is 27.37 million yen.
