Reasons to Choose the New Volvo C30 (1)
A specialty coupe is a personal, slightly sporty vehicle. European and American automakers have a particular strength in this area. Volvo, the premium carmaker from Sweden, also offers the appealing two-door C30. Volvo Car Japan will launch the new C30, with changes to its styling and engine lineup, on February 20, 2010.

Design Reflecting the New Generation Volvo Identity
The C30 is the smallest and lightest model in Volvo's lineup. With its glass tailgate, a roof that forms a distinct trapezoidal shape when viewed from above, and styling that emphasizes the presence of the rear section centered around the rear wheels, it is a uniquely individual model among imported cars.
The lineup being introduced is as follows.
・C30 2.0e Aktiv (¥2,950,000)
・C30 T5 R-DESIGN (¥3,890,000)
The difference between the two models lies primarily in their powertrains. The 2.0e Aktiv is equipped with a 145ps 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 6-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Technology) transmission. In contrast, the T5 R-DESIGN features a 230ps 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with an intercooled turbocharger, paired with a 5-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The DCT in the 2.0e Aktiv has been refined, with a notable reduction in the time it takes for gears to engage when shifting into reverse compared to the previous version.
Appealing to Those Drawn to Sporty Coupes
As its name suggests, the sporty T5 R-DESIGN incorporates Volvo's sports line, R-DESIGN. It features a sport suspension with 30 percent stiffer front springs and rear dampers that have been monotube-converted for quicker response, along with a steering system with 10 percent improved responsiveness for a more direct feel, and a reinforced chassis, all of which emphasize the driving enjoyment.
Furthermore, it is equipped with a body kit including a front grille with a dedicated emblem, larger front spoiler, side skirts, and rear skirt, as well as 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels.
The front fascia for both models now features a design that conveys the identity of the new generation of Volvo cars, shared with models like the XC60. The design of the headlamp casings, which now have a more determined impression, and the nose design that emphasizes the front grille, are intended to appeal to those drawn to sporty coupes. This clearly differentiates it from the S40 and V50, allowing owners to proudly express their deliberate choice.
