Why does Ferrari insist its first SUV is a sports car? — The Purosangue's World Premiere | Ferrari
Features Suicide Doors and Full Bucket-Type 4-Seater
The bodywork, in typical Ferrari fashion, utilizes curves and contours, evoking a classic charm with its bulging fenders. Simultaneously, it incorporates scientific approaches, such as creating airflow from inlets above the headlights to outlets behind the front fenders to generate downforce during driving.
The wheelbase is a generous 3,018mm, and the rear seats offer relatively ample space. With an electric slide mechanism allowing for approximately 200mm of movement, legroom is adequately secured. There is no sense of crampedness.
The seats are well-crafted, and uniquely, the rear seats are also full bucket types, just like the front. This is explained as being important for a sports car's body hold. Therefore, as Mr. Galliera mentioned, "There are no plans for a 5-seater."
The doors open in a suicide configuration. A light pull on the lever at the base of the B-pillar activates the electric opening. The doors can also be closed via a switch from inside the cabin. The Burmester audio system is also a highlight, suggesting it's ideal for family long-distance touring.
The price is around 390,000 Euros. As is typical for Ferrari, the production volume is undisclosed. "We will limit it to about 20 percent," says Mr. Galliera. Orders are already flooding in, and there's a possibility of order suspension soon, according to Ferrari. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2023 for Europe, with subsequent expansion worldwide.
