The Past, Present, and Future of the Citroen DS Line

The name DS in the Citroen DS Line, of course, originates from the Citroen DS, a large luxury car launched in 1955. The modern DS Line, like its predecessor, is an ambitious creation that shares a common thread in being positioned as a more premium car than Citroen's C Line, and in being a distinctive vehicle with innovative design. This DS Line, which had already firmly established its direction with the release of the first model, the "DS3," in 2009, has since expanded its lineup. In June of this year, the top-tier model, the "DS5," also went on sale in Japan.

Additionally, a special edition "Ultra Prestige" with exclusive equipment was added to the DS3 in April of this year. Furthermore, this autumn, the DS4 is scheduled to feature a 6-speed automatic transmission and club leather seats. At the Beijing Motor Show, the "Numero 9," symbolizing the future of the DS series, was also unveiled. The DS Line promises to continue generating buzz.

OPENERS has featured the DS Line on numerous occasions. Here, we look back at the history of the DS Line and examine its present.
