Designing the Future of Delivery
The "eT! Concept" is not a passenger car, but a commercial vehicle designed for delivery and postal services. This is clearly reflected in the spacious cargo cabin made possible by the adoption of in-wheel hub motors. The most striking exterior feature, a large electric sliding door on the passenger side, is designed to allow delivery drivers, who frequently need to get in and out of the vehicle, to step directly onto the sidewalk and access both the driver's seat and the cargo area from there. Its compact body offers high convenience in densely populated urban areas, and it can also be driven semi-automatically.
If electricity can be secured through renewable energy generation, the eT! Concept can further reduce environmental impact. Volkswagen positions it as a "vehicle to bring sustainability to the delivery industry," with a vision entirely different from electrifying models like theGolfup!.
The Car Follows the Driver
The passenger seat is equipped with a drive stick (joystick) that allows for short-distance movement of the vehicle without sitting in the driver's seat, but there are other ways to operate the "eT! Concept."
This is the autonomous driving function. With a "Follow Me" command, the car follows the driver walking outside the vehicle during delivery tasks, and with a "Come to Me" command when placed a short distance away, the car comes to the driver. Imagining it, it's almost like a cute animal. The "eT! Concept," with its intelligent appearance, presents yet another eagerly anticipated future.
