Seeking a Better Relationship Between People and Cars—
A Parisian Life with Renault, as Imagined by Japanese Creators
For over a century, Renault has crafted cars that are both innovative and enduringly beloved. Manabu Matsunaga, a photographer, and Maiko Matsunaga, an editor, both based in Paris, are devoted Renault enthusiasts. They share their perspective that a nation's character is reflected in how its people interact with cars. For Europeans, cars are a natural extension of horse-drawn carriages—vehicles to be cherished and lived with. No matter how innovative, a car must evoke affection to be truly embraced. What is the ideal relationship between people and cars, as seen by these two, who understand both Japan and France?
