Special Talk Show for the Harrier Premium "Style MAUVE" Edition Held

An elegant space with a purple carpet suddenly appeared at Roppongi Hills. Soft sunlight streamed through the transparent glass roof, illuminating two Harrier Premium "Style MAUVE" editions and one Mirror Harrier. This is the "TOYOTA HARRIER CAFE," a cafe recreating the interior space of the Harrier. The comfortable sofas placed in the venue are special custom sofas, "HARRIER MARENCO," made with the interior material of the special edition car, using the masterpiece "MARENCO" from <arflex>. Furthermore, at the drink bar, you can enjoy a purple original signature coffee developed by "Sarutahiko Coffee."

The talk show, held to commemorate the opening of this limited-time cafe, featured Mr. Daisuke Obana, designer of the leading Japanese fashion brand "N.HOOLYWOOD," whose collaboration with "Marenco" last year was a hit; Mr. Asano Otsuka, representative of "Sarutahiko Coffee," who developed the original signature coffee inspired by the "purple" of the special edition's interior color, Steel Mauve; Mr. Akira Kashiwagi, executive officer and retail general manager of Arflex Japan, who produced the special "Harrier Marenco" sofa using the special edition's interior material; and Mr. Isao Konishi, working leader of the Design Office in the Technical Department of Toyota Industries Corporation, who was in charge of the special edition's interior design.

The talk was lively, focusing on the special interior color, Steel Mauve, and its "purple" hue. According to Mr. Konishi, who was in charge of the interior design, "'STEEL' means 'iron,' and 'MAUVE' means 'purple.' Inspired by these two, we expressed the conflicting elements of the Harrier's 'strength as an SUV (= STEEL)' and its 'elegance (= MAUVE)' as 'Steel Mauve' in a single color."

Responding to this, fashion designer Mr. Obana shared his thoughts on purple: "In men's fashion, purple is a noble color, but it's very difficult to wear. However, by incorporating it into accessories like handkerchiefs or sneakers, it can make an outfit stand out. The purple used in the Harrier this time is so elegant that I'd even want to use it in my own collection; it's so beautiful that I think it would tailor well."

Mr. Kashiwagi of Arflex Japan also expressed his admiration: "Purple is a meaningful color, so it's very difficult. When I first heard about it, I thought it was a bold challenge, but I was surprised at how well it was incorporated when I saw the actual product."

He also praised the interior panels, saying, "Normally, adding gloss can make things look cheap, but the sheen of the special edition's panels blends perfectly with the interior, creating an elegant finish."

The latter half of the discussion turned to the collaboration itself. Mr. Otsuka of Sarutahiko Coffee stated, "Our policy is to embody the contradiction of being both delicate and boldly unrestrained. The Harrier also has a duality, possessing both wildness and refinement, urbanity, so there are common points in that regard."

During the event, a 360° camera was installed inside the special edition vehicle. Visitors could enjoy the interior space, colored in the special Steel Mauve, from various angles with "HARRIER Interior 360°." There was also a promotion where posting event photos on social media earned a free coffee voucher. Many customers experienced the elegant and luxurious space.
