Flatter, More Sporty Exterior

Rumors of the next-generation Porsche 911, the brand's iconic model, have been circulating, with overseas automotive magazines frequently publishing leaked images and an official teaser movie recently released. Now, Porsche AG has finally revealed the details.

Regarding dimensions, while maintaining a compact body, the wheelbase has been extended by 100 millimeters, while the overall height has been lowered compared to the previous model.

The body panels are made of aluminum and steel, increasing rigidity and achieving a weight reduction of 45 kg. The variable rear spoiler has been widened, and aerodynamic characteristics have been optimized, resulting in an excellent drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.29.

The exterior design, with its round headlights and prominently arched fenders, is instantly recognizable as a 911. However, the lowered overall height lends it a sportier impression. Subtle changes are also visible, such as the repositioning of the door mirrors from the triangle to the upper edge of the door, and the two-tiered "PORSCHE 911 Carrera" emblem at the rear.

Inside, the shift lever and selector lever are positioned on the center console, which slopes forward, bringing them closer to the steering wheel for improved operability.

First Porsche Model to Record CO2 Emissions Below 200g/km

The announcement covers two grades: the base model "911 Carrera" and the higher-spec "911 Carrera S." The former is equipped with a 3.4-liter flat-six engine producing a maximum output of 257 kW (350 hp), while the latter features a 3.8-liter flat-six engine boasting a maximum output of 294 kW (400 hp).

Thanks to features such as the engine Auto Start & Stop function, energy regeneration, electric power steering, and the world's first 7-speed manual transmission, the new 911 achieves up to a 16 percent reduction in fuel consumption and emissions compared to the previous generation. Consequently, the 911 Carrera achieves fuel consumption of 8.2 L/100 km (a reduction of 1.6 L/100 km) and CO2 emissions of 194 g/km, marking the first time a Porsche model has recorded CO2 emissions below 200 g/km. The Carrera S is also impressive, with fuel consumption of 8.7 L/100 km (a reduction of 1.5 L/100 km) and CO2 emissions of 205 g/km.

Additionally, the Carrera S is equipped for the first time with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), an active roll stabilization system. This system suppresses lateral tilt during cornering, allowing the tires to maintain optimal contact with the road and enabling the rear tires to transmit greater force longitudinally. This maximizes cornering speed, making it particularly effective for circuit driving.

The new Porsche 911 will make its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show, starting September 13.
