Two Seconds Faster Than the Enzo

The engine in this new model is a near-transplant of the 6.0-liter V12 from the race-only 599XX, of which approximately 30 units were produced, based on the 599GTB Fiorano (Japanese name: '599'). The engine, incorporating a dedicated crankshaft and intake, delivers a maximum output of 670ps at 8250rpm and a peak torque of 63.2kgm at 6500rpm. A specially developed 6-speed, two-pedal manual transmission, the 'F1-derived transmission', is also adopted.

Significant effort has also been made to reduce weight, achieving a curb weight of 1,495kg through the use of thin glass and composite materials. As a result, it achieves a power-to-weight ratio of 2.23kg/hp, a 0-100km/h acceleration of 3.35 seconds, and a top speed of 335km/h, making it the fastest production Ferrari ever. Its lap time at the Fiorano test circuit in Italy was a record 1 minute 24 seconds, two seconds faster than the Enzo.

F1 Know-How Applied Throughout

The suspension features the second-generation SCM2 magnetorheological variable dampers, along with dedicated springs, a larger rear stabilizer, dedicated VDC, and the latest F1 traction control. The brakes are an evolved carbon-ceramic system. Unlike the 599, the tires are sized 285/30ZR20 at the front and 315/35ZR20 at the rear.

Aerodynamics also benefit from F1 expertise, with dedicated parts used for the bumpers, front spoiler, hood, and diffuser. The underfloor is flattened, generating 144kg of downforce at 200km/h. The specially designed wheels feature the familiar 'wheel donuts' from F1 cars, enhancing airflow and brake cooling performance.

The interior is also finished in a highly sporty manner. It comes standard with a leather and Alcantara steering wheel, bucket seats, carbon fiber paddle shifters, and carbon fiber panels. The steering wheel also incorporates a performance information system.

Only 599 units of the 599GTO will be produced worldwide.

BRAND HISTORY
Many fans are captivated by the emblem known as 'Cavallino Rampante,' or the 'prancing horse' in Japan. A car that ignites the crowd with its fierce performance on the circuit and enthralls onlookers with its elegant silhouette and piercing sound on the street – that is FERRARI. This brand, which pursues the ultimate in speed in both F1 and production cars, still carries the strong passion of its founder, Enzo Ferrari.

Born in Modena, Italy, in 1898, Enzo was inspired by a race he witnessed in Bologna at the age of ten, eventually aspiring to become a racing driver himself. His unwavering ambition steadily moved towards realization, and in 1920, Enzo became a test driver for Alfa Romeo. In the same year, he competed as an Alfa driver in the Targa Florio, achieving an impressive second place.

However, Enzo's interest soon shifted towards managing a racing team, leading him to establish Scuderia Ferrari in 1929 and take over Alfa's racing activities. Despite his prowess, his relationship with Alfa ended in 1939. After World War II, in 1947, he resumed racing activities with his own V12-powered 'Ferrari 125.' This marked the beginning of Ferrari's journey as a sports car brand.

Subsequently, Ferrari came under the Fiat umbrella. Currently, under the leadership of President Luca Montezemolo, who also serves as chairman of the Fiat Group, the brand continues to enhance its allure. The lineup consists of five models: the V12-powered '599' and '612 Scaglietti,' the mid-engined V8 sports cars 'F430' and 'F430 Spider,' and the ultra-sporty '430 Scuderia.'
