A Car for Enjoyable, Comfortable Drives

The Audi A5 Sportback handles with a natural feel. While the steering effort is light, the car's response is quick. It follows the exact line you intend. When a car doesn't feel right, it's usually because of a mismatch between the driver's feel and the car's reaction speed. The A5 Sportback has virtually no such time lag. Like a well-made sports shoe, it moves precisely as the driver intends, making it undeniably easier to drive. This is another advantage.

The 7-speed Audi S tronic transmission with its dual-clutch system, while offering the ease of an automatic, also allows for quicker clutch engagement than a manual. This characteristic pairs well with the engine's sharp response to accelerator input. For a car with a total length of 4710mm, it's rare to find one that offers such an agile driving experience.

German Engineering's Pursuit of Functionality

As mentioned earlier, the interior is also a major appeal of the A5 Sportback. Benefiting from a long wheelbase of 2810mm, the cabin offers ample space, and the rear seats are far more comfortable than the exterior suggests. Two adults can sit with ease. Furthermore, the hatchback design makes loading and unloading large items simple, and the rear seats can be folded down to accommodate long objects.

The pursuit of functionality is characteristic of German cars, and for those familiar with Audi, the cockpit concept is unchanged, allowing you to start driving immediately. The consistent use of black highlights the high quality of the synthetic resin components. This craftsmanship is a significant draw for Audi. If there's one criticism, it's that one might expect a new concept to emerge by now. While choosing seat color combinations and some dashboard materials is enjoyable, it would be good to see this premium sedan evolve further.

BRAND HISTORY
The Audi emblem is "Four Rings." As you may know, each ring represents the automobile manufacturers Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer. All were headquartered in Saxony and were leading brands in the German automotive industry at the beginning of the 20th century. However, the four companies, hit by the Great Depression after World War I, formed Auto Union in 1932 to survive. DKW focused on motorcycles and small cars, Wanderer on mid-sized cars, Audi on premium mid-sized cars, and Horch on luxury cars.

However, due to Germany's defeat in World War II, Saxony in East Germany fell under Russian occupation, and Auto Union ceased to exist. Anticipating this, the new Auto Union was established in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, in West Germany. Unlike BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Auto Union faced a difficult start without existing factories, but gradually gained strength by producing vehicles like the DKW delivery van.

Auto Union, acquired by Volkswagen at the end of 1964, soon introduced new models bearing the Audi name. In 1969, it merged with NSU (known for developing the Wankel engine), headquartered in Neckarsulm, becoming Audi NSU Auto Union. From 1985 onwards, it has continued as Audi to the present day. Technologies like quattro, dynamic performance backed by motorsport activities, elegant design, and high-quality finishes are driving Audi's popularity.
