A 7.3-Liter V12 Engine Exceeding 700 PS

Dubbed the most powerful model in Aston Martin's history, the "One-77" is powered by a 7.3-liter V12 engine developed from the company's 6.0-liter V12. This unit, boasting over 700 PS, was jointly developed with Aston Martin by the British firm Cosworth. It features a dry-sump lubrication system and has undergone detailed tuning, such as improvements to the intake and exhaust systems. The newly developed 6-speed sequential transmission is equipped with paddle shifters, enabling performance figures of 0-96 km/h in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 322 km/h.

Naturally, the body development also showcases meticulous attention to detail. Specifically, it employs a sophisticated construction combining a carbon fiber monocoque with handmade aluminum panels. The development involved Multimatic, a company with a strong reputation in carbon technology. The vehicle's weight is said to be under 1500 kg.

A Price Tag of One Million Pounds

The engine's position has also been reconsidered. Mounted 100mm lower and further back than in existing V12 models, the engine achieves ideal balance as a front mid-engine layout, significantly contributing to the "One-77's" enhanced performance.

In line with this performance, the car is equipped with carbon-ceramic "Matrix" brakes. The suspension utilizes a pushrod system with four-wheel double wishbones, incorporating "DSSV (Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve)" technology. The vehicle will be delivered with suspension settings tailored to the user's preferences.

Production of the "One-77" is limited to 77 units. The price is said to be one million pounds (approximately 137 million yen), yet according to Aston Martin's announcement, over 100 inquiries have already been received. The release date is currently undecided.

BRAND HISTORY
Currently drawing global attention as the coolest sports car brand, Aston Martin of Britain stands out. Founded in 1914 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, the small company adopted the Aston Martin name after achieving success in a hill climb event called Aston Clinton, and has since left a brilliant mark on the history of motorsport and sports cars.

Conversely, the company has faced numerous financial crises, each time receiving a helping hand, charting a truly tumultuous course. For instance, David Brown, who became owner in 1947, left his name on the sports car "DB2" and the racing machine "DBR1" by leveraging his excellent management skills and engineering acumen. More recently, Ford's sale of its stake to an investment group led by David Richards, founder of Prodrive, is still fresh in memory.

However, Aston Martin has consistently pursued the creation of sports cars imbued with potent power and beautiful styling throughout every era. The current lineup includes the "V8 Vantage" and "DB9." Furthermore, the new flagship model "DBS," which will succeed the "Vanquish," is expected to make its debut in Japan in the near future.
