PORSCHE | Part 1: Buying a Porsche 911

Part 1: On the Road to Buying a Porsche 911

To become the owner of my dream car,PorscheI visited the dealership. Surrounded by many Porsches, including the "Boxster," my target was the "911," arguably the pinnacle of sports cars.

This is a Porsche showroom in Tokyo. The latest models I used to admire through the showroom window from the usual street are now within reach.

Porsche has expanded its lineup, starting with the "Boxster," followed by the SUV "Cayenne," and the two-seater coupe "Cayman." With a wider range of choices, it's become easier to take that first step, and the customer base is steadily growing.

However, my target this time is the "911," which has pursued the ideal of a sports car for over 40 years. While it's more expensive than other sports cars like the Boxster and Cayman, the 911 is, after all, the quintessential Porsche.

After thoroughly admiring the 911, I immediately asked a sales representative for a quote.
The "911 Carrera" with Tiptronic transmission (11.78 million yen), plus options like PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management system) for electronically controlled damping and heated seats, along with taxes and other fees, brought the total to approximately 13 million yen.

Initially, I planned to pay over 10 million yen as a down payment and settle the remaining 10 million yen over five years. When I conveyed this to the sales representative, he typed on his laptop and immediately presented a payment example.

The plan, without bonus payments, showed an initial payment of 184,700 yen and monthly payments of 183,700 yen (using Porsche Auto Loan with an effective annual interest rate of 3.9%). The path to becoming a 911 owner was finally becoming concrete.

However, before signing the contract, I felt compelled to ask about a "certain loan" that had recently caught my attention.
