FERRARI California | Introducing the Prancing Horse's New GT, the Ferrari California
Ferrari Unveils the New Prancing Horse GT: The California
ItalianFerrariunveiled its new model, the "Ferrari California," to the world on May 13, 2008.
While Ferrari currently offers models with both V12 and V8 engines, the newly announced "Ferrari California" belongs to the V8 family, positioned below the V12-powered 2+2 coupe, the "612 Scaglietti."
It features a retractable hardtop for open-air driving, and like current models such as the "F430/F430 Spider," it utilizes lightweight aluminum for its chassis and bodywork.

The V8 engine displaces 4.3 liters and produces 460 horsepower. It incorporates advanced technologies like direct injection and a "flat" crankshaft. This powerful engine is mounted in a front-mid configuration for the first time in a Ferrari V8 unit. It is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Performance is blistering, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 4 seconds. In an era where even sports cars must consider environmental impact, it boasts CO2 emissions of 310 g/km.

Equipped with features like the "F1-Trac" traction control system and Brembo brakes with carbon-ceramic discs, it offers the driving dynamics and comfort expected of a luxury GT.
Owners fortunate enough to acquire this model will undoubtedly revel in the high-quality interior, meticulously crafted by Ferrari's artisans.
The Ferrari California will be officially presented at this autumn's Paris Motor Show.
BRAND HISTORY
Many fans are captivated by the emblem known as "Cavallino Rampante," or the "prancing horse" in Japan. FERRARI is a marque that ignites passion with its fierce performance on the track and enchants with its elegant silhouette and distinctive roar on the street. Whether in Formula 1 or in its road cars, this brand, which pursues the pinnacle of speed, still carries the strong passion of its founder, Enzo Ferrari.
Born in Modena, Italy, in 1898, Enzo was inspired by a race he witnessed in Bologna at the age of ten, eventually aspiring to become a racing driver himself. His singular ambition steadily moved toward realization, and in 1920, Enzo became a test driver for Alfa Romeo. In the same year, he competed in the Targa Florio as an Alfa driver, achieving an impressive second-place finish.
However, Enzo's interest eventually shifted towards managing a racing team, leading him to establish Scuderia Ferrari in 1929 and take over Alfa's racing activities. Despite his prowess, his relationship with Alfa ended in 1939. After World War II, in 1947, he resumed racing activities with the "Ferrari 125," powered by his own V12 engine. This marked the beginning of Ferrari's journey as a sports car brand.
Subsequently, Ferrari became part of the Fiat group. Under the leadership of President Luca Montezemolo, who also serves as chairman of the Fiat Group, the brand's allure continues to grow. The current lineup consists of five models: the V12-powered "599" and "612 Scaglietti," the mid-engined V8 sports cars "F430" and "F430 Spider," and the ultra-sporty "430 Scuderia."
