0-100km/h in 3.9 Seconds, Top Speed of 316km/h!
The engine adopted isLamborghinia 5204cc V10 direct-injection unit, shared with the Gallardo LP560-4. It produces a maximum output of 525ps and peak torque of 54.1kgm, boasting performance figures of 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 316km/h (the V8 model achieves 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 301km/h).
Compared to the current R8 model powered by a 4.2-liter V8 unit, this engine offers a significant increase of 105ps in maximum output and 10.2kgm in peak torque.
One might have worried that the increased engine size would lead to a heavier car, offsetting the performance gains. However, thanks to the adoption of an aluminum spaceframe structure, the weight increase is limited to just 31kg. As a result, the power-to-weight ratio has improved from 3.71kg/ps in the V8 model to 3.09kg/ps.
The drivetrain employs a full-time 4WD system called "quattro," with a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or the 6-speed R tronic automated manual transmission. This R tronic is capable of executing shifts in under 0.1 seconds.
Officially Unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show
The suspension features Audi's "magnetic ride" system as standard, which was an optional extra on the V8 model. The brakes are equipped with 8-piston calipers at the front and 4-piston at the rear. Rotor diameters are 380mm for the front and 356mm for the rear, with optional carbon-ceramic brakes also available.
Exterior changes from the V8 model include side blades behind the doors in a dedicated color, newly designed alloy wheels, all-LED headlights, and dual exhaust pipes on each side.
Inside, full Nappa leather, which was optional on the V8 model, is now standard. The car also benefits from an enhanced equipment list, including the "Driver Information System" and an audio system by Bang & Olufsen. Furthermore, customers can customize their interior by choosing from a range of leather and panel options.
The Audi V10 5.2 FSI quattro will be officially unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show, starting January 11 next year, and is scheduled for release in Germany between April and June 2009. The anticipated price is 142,400 euros (approximately 17 million yen).
