Even More Exclusive in Specs and Design
“911” and “Boxster S” also received the "Black Edition" treatment, and it is now set to debut on the two-seater mid-ship coupe, the "Cayman S." The body, of course, and every corner of the exterior are unified in black, with both specs and design evolving to be more exclusive.
The "Cayman S Black Edition" is equipped with a 3.4-liter flat-six engine. It boasts an increase of 7 kW (10 hp) over the Cayman S, reaching 330 PS (243 kW) at 7,400 rpm. Maximum torque remains the same as the Cayman S at 370 Nm at 4,750 rpm.
This allows for a 0.1-second reduction in the 0-100 km/h acceleration time. For the 6-speed manual transmission model, it takes 5.1 seconds, and for the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) model, it takes 5.0 seconds. Furthermore, with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the time can be reduced to 4.8 seconds when using the launch control. The top speed is 2 km/h faster for both, with the manual transmission model reaching 279 km/h and the PDK model reaching 277 km/h.
Supporting its powerful performance, the chassis features 19-inch wheels, which are one inch larger and wider than those on the Cayman S. The tires are 235/35ZR19 for the front and 265/35ZR19 for the rear.
Additionally, features such as an auto-dimming rearview mirror with integrated rain sensor and dynamic cornering lights are included to enhance usability and ensure safer driving.
It's not just about the specs. True to its "Black Edition" name, the body and exterior are bathed in jet black. From the leather seats to the trim on the shift lever, selector lever, and dashboard, everything is unified in black, creating a sense of luxury. The glove box lid is adorned with a plate bearing the serial number, attesting to the exclusivity of the Cayman S Black Edition, which only 500 individuals worldwide can own.
Details regarding sales prices in Japan are yet to be determined.
