The New Shape of Ferrari

The name given to Ferrari's first-ever four-wheel-drive model, suddenly announced on the official website, is "FF." This is an acronym for "Ferrari Four," representing its four-seater and four-wheel-drive capabilities. Ferrari states, "A completely new GT sports car concept has been adopted, and its form, which breaks existing conventions, can be described as a revolution rather than an evolution." While it features a shooting brake-style body with a long nose and short deck reminiscent of the BMW Z3 Coupe and Lotus Elite II, it is highly refined and unmistakably a Ferrari. The execution of this design is, as expected, masterful Pininfarina.

The four-wheel-drive system, a first in Ferrari's history, is called "4RM (Four Wheel Drive)," a proprietary patented system. Although details have not been fully disclosed, it is said to reduce weight by 50% compared to conventional four-wheel-drive systems and achieve a weight distribution of 47% front and 53% rear. Integrated with electronic control systems, it provides predictive torque distribution to all four wheels continuously and with high precision, delivering optimal traction in any terrain or road condition. It is also equipped with the latest magnetorheological damping system (SCM3) and the latest carbon-ceramic brakes (CCM) from Brembo.

Equipped with a V12 Engine Producing 660 hp

The engine is a 65-degree V12. This new direct-injection engine with a total displacement of 6,262 cc produces a maximum output of 485 kW (660 hp) at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 683 Nm (69.6 kgm) at 6,000 rpm. Combined with a transaxle layout and a dual-clutch F1 gearbox, it achieves acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. With a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 3.7 kg/kW (2.7 kg/hp) and ideal weight distribution, it enables highly responsive handling, allowing its performance to be fully utilized in any situation, whether on city streets, slippery roads in snow, or on the race track.

Beyond its performance, the FF is also remarkably well-equipped in terms of passenger space, comfort, and interior amenities, far beyond what would be expected from a conventional high-performance model. It offers seating for four and ample trunk space (expandable from a standard 450 liters to 800 liters), claimed to be the largest in its class. Additionally, exclusive options and accessories for the "FF" have been developed, including six exterior colors and luxurious interior trim using specially treated aniline leather.

The FF is scheduled for its official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show, which begins on Friday, March 1st.

Below is the latest video. Please watch its swift performance on the night roads.
