Enhanced Power and Equipment

The Audi R8 is the only model in the brand's production car lineup to feature a mid-ship layout. It debuted in 2006 and has been available in Japan since July 2007. This model inherits the DNA of racing cars honed through endurance races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and stands at the pinnacle of Audi's lineup as a flagship sports car developed using cutting-edge Audi technology. Its body, finished almost entirely by hand and checked for welds down to the micron level using X-rays, employs the familiar ASF (Audi Space Frame). In addition to conventional aluminum, it incorporates magnesium, achieving higher rigidity and significant weight reduction, which underpins the R8's astonishing performance.

The transmission lineup includes a 6-speed manual for a direct shifting feel, as well as the sequential 6-speed "R tronic" transmission. Gear changes are operated via "shift-by-wire" technology, using a joystick on the center console or paddles on the steering wheel, enabling seamless acceleration.

The primary changes this time involve the engine of the 4.2-liter model and the addition of equipment across all variants.

For the "R8 4.2 FSI Quattro," the output of its dry-sump, high-revving FSI direct-injection V8 4.2-liter engine has been increased from the previous 309 kW (420 ps) to 316 kW (430 ps). Additionally, cruise control and APS (Audi Parking System) are now standard equipment. The higher-grade "R8 5.2 FSI Quattro" now features LED headlights, symbolizing its advanced image.

Common to both models are enhancements in equipment, including the standard fitment of an SD navigation system with Google Maps local search compatibility, a rearview camera, and an ETC system.

The main changes are summarized as follows:

AUDI R8 4.2 FSI Quattro
• Engine output increased: 309 kW (420 ps) → 316 kW (430 ps)
• Cruise control: Standard equipment
• APS (Audi Parking System): Standard equipment

The newly updated Audi R8. Pricing remains unchanged: the 4.2 FSI Quattro with a 6-speed manual is ¥16.49 million, the 6-speed R tronic model is ¥17.49 million, and the 5.2 FSI Quattro, available only with the 6-speed R tronic, is ¥20.12 million.
