NARS × MARC JACOBS Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection

The Autumn/Winter 2010 collection by MARC JACOBS was held on February 15, 2010. Makeup was handled by François Nars, founder and creative director of NARS. Focusing on the runway that leads New York fashion from the makeup!

Theme: "Imperfect, Left-On Makeup"

Inspired by the 1977 film "La Vie des Autres" (The Lives of Others), which won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the designer wanted the models to have a dirty look, as if they had slept in their hair and makeup.—said designer Marc Jacobs.

He specifically requested NARS Lipstick in 1036 (Barbarella), which was used for the lip makeup and graced the runway.

The look is reminiscent of what you might see in the East Village or Saint-Germain-des-Prés, described by François Nars as "existentialists with a modern twist." His makeup technique involved using fingers to create a finish that looked as if it were about to smudge. "They are sexy and cool. The makeup is dirty, appearing as if it's been worn all night and is starting to break down, but we expressed that beautifully on the runway," says François Nars.

<Face>
Used NARS Hydrating Moisture Cream.
Apply NARS Sheer Glow Foundation to the center of the face and blend outwards for a smooth, even finish.
Cover any areas of concern with NARS Concealer Stick.
Achieve a smooth, polished finish with NARS Powder Foundation.
Lightly apply NARS Cream Blush (not available in Japan) to the apples of the cheeks.

<Eyes>
Apply both shades of NARS Duo Eyeshadow in 3017 (Tokyo) all over the eyelids.
Add NARS Single Eyeshadow in 2070 (D.gorgeous) to the crease to create dimension.
Line the upper lash line with NARS Stylo Eyeliner in 8121 (Nuits Blanches).
Smudge NARS Eyeliner Pencil in 8003 (Black Moon) towards the outer corner of the lower lash line.
Curl the lashes and apply two coats of NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara to the upper and lower lashes to complete the look.

<Lips>
Apply NARS Lipstick in 1036 (Barbarella) to the center of the lips and blend outwards.
