4th "Anti-Aging Lifestyle" Talk Show (Osamu Shigematsu)

From the "Anti-Aging Lifestyle" Talk Show

Creating a Stress-Free Living Environment is the Essence of Anti-Aging
— Osamu Shigematsu (Chairman and CEO, United Arrows)

The "First World Congress of Anti-Aging Medicine Japan" that OPENERS announced has successfully concluded.
Thank you to everyone who attended.
The public lecture "Anti-Aging Lifestyle" Talk Show, which I, Ryozoh Saito, moderated, featured
four participants: Osamu Shigematsu (Chairman and CEO, United Arrows), Michiko Fujiwara (Director, La Donna), Emilie Yamano (CEO, Yamano & Associates Inc.), and Masafumi Suzuki (Editor-in-Chief, Shinchosha ENGINE).
Although this is an excerpt from the public lecture, the statements made by the four panelists were all incredibly valuable, so
we will be introducing them on OPENERS. This is the third installment, featuring Osamu Shigematsu.

Fashion is Proof of the Moment You Are Living

I have been involved with fashion ever since I graduated from university.
While the "clothing, food, and shelter" are indispensable for a cultured life, "clothing" is placed at the top of these three major factors, preceding "food and shelter" which are essential for sustaining life.
My interpretation of this is that the "spiritual upliftment" brought about when one embodies their "self-image" or "self within trends" through clothing, and achieves this at a high level across their entire lifestyle,
may be the very source of vitality in life, leading to anti-aging.

By wearing fashion that captures the mood of the times, one can feel joy, experience richness,
and discover new facets of themselves.
I believe "clothing" is a wonderful personal tool to achieve this.

The Effects of a Carbohydrate-Free Diet

The Effects of a Carbohydrate-Free Diet

To tell you a little about my daily life, I wake up at 7:20 AM.
I check my emails, change the water in the Shinto altar, and then have a meal.
Actually, since the beginning of this year, I've been skipping breakfast, having only green juice and fruit in the morning. After that, I take a shower and head to work at 9 AM. For supplements, I take garlic capsules, vitamin C, and brown rice enzyme.

I started skipping breakfast after reading a certain book, and also, a friend I met at the beginning of the year had lost weight, so when I asked, they said they only cut out carbohydrates at night. By skipping breakfast and being mindful of carbohydrates, I lost 6 kilograms in about 5 months.

In the evening, I'm actually drinking more alcohol now than at any other time in my life, but I try to return home by midnight, check my emails, take a shower, take my supplements, and go to sleep.

The Secret to Peak Physical and Mental Condition

I believe being in peak physical and mental condition means being in a stress-free state.
In other words, being stress-free means having an environment where you can do what you want and say what you want.
People feel richness when there are no problems, or when problems are resolved.
I believe that creating a stress-free living environment for oneself, where one can live vibrantly and joyfully, is the essence of anti-aging.

Aiming for Personal Anti-Aging

At United Arrows, we offer a service called "Personal Styling" for each of our customers.
This involves dedicated staff assisting customers with coordination based on their preferences if they have an image in mind,
and if not, we provide a wide range of suggestions.

This feels similar to Dr. Ryozoh Saito's proposal that "anti-aging treatment first involves establishing anti-aging goals, and then developing individual programs."

From Ryozoh Saito to Osamu Shigematsu

In the media, such as on television, I had the impression that Mr. Shigematsu was a "taciturn and dandy gentleman."
During our preliminary meeting, I found him to be incredibly HOT, passionate ♥, and yet, he possessed a cool-headedness and thoughtfulness befitting a business leader that he'd show at any moment... I was smitten. I was a fan of Mr. Suzuki's, but now I'm definitely cheating on him.

Setting personal feelings aside.
I understand that the essence of commerce in a capitalist economy is the exchange of goods (or services) for their equivalent value (in principle).
While an increasing number of people say that medicine is a service industry, in Japan's medical system, which is rooted in the socialist welfare system of insurance, I have felt resistance to healthcare providers declaring themselves to be in the service industry.

From Ryozoh Saito to Osamu Shigematsu

Listening to Mr. Shigematsu's talk, I felt that United Arrows provides something more than just clothing to its clients. At the same time, it made the world of apparel feel closer to me, who is currently involved in anti-aging medicine.
