The Compact SUV "2008" Based on the 208

At the Peugeot booth, the main exhibit was the "2008" which has received high acclaim in Europe, making its debut in Japan. At the press conference, the sales launch date of February 15th next year and pricing were announced. There are two grades: Premium at 2.46 million yen and Cielo at 2.70 million yen. The 2008 is a front-wheel-drive SUV developed based on the Peugeot "208", with a compact body measuring 4.16 meters in length and powered by a 1.2-liter inline-3 DOHC engine. The transmission is a newly developed 5-speed ETG, a single-clutch automated manual type.

Additionally, a noteworthy sports model was unveiled. This is the high-performance " RCZ R", an addition to the beautifully styled "RCZ". This is a genuine model engineered by "Peugeot Sport", Peugeot's motorsport division, and is equipped with a new 1.6-liter inline-4 turbo engine producing 270ps. It features dedicated suspension and a Torsen differential, and the 6-speed manual transmission has been reinforced to handle the high-performance engine, so you won't be disappointed by its performance. This sports model, already attractive in its exterior alone, is scheduled for a limited introduction next spring at a price of 5.4 million yen, with only 150 units available.
